“The Key” (Episode 109)

The biggest shock of last week’s episode, okay, well, I guess there were two big shocks, was first, Mara has been seeing Chris as a derealization and only realized this after she was with program Chris and received a phone call from human Chris and the derealization turned into Ray. WHAT?!?! The second shock was Oliver Hill had the shady security guard steal him a program tablet to only go inside the program and collapse without explanation at a bar. WHAT?!?!?

At the end of Season 3 of Better Call Saul, HHM faced an astronomical increase in malpractice premiums (following Jimmy’s dropping the dime to their insurance carrier about Chuck’s condition). Chuck, recently on the road to recovery and back at work, wanted to fight the increase while Howard, finally having had enough of the Chuck Liability, gives Chuck $3 million (of his own funds) in severance and announces Chuck’s “retirement” to the firm. That night, disgraced and in full mental illness regression, Chuck kicks over a lantern setting his house ablaze.
Elsewhere, Kim, who was burning the candle in 7 different places, fell asleep behind the wheel of her car causing her to crash and break her arm. She was on the way to a client meeting and client files were strewn about the road. Hector Salamanca, after learning that Gus will be handling all smuggling work, as per the big boss (Don Eladio), suffers the heart attack we had been waiting for. Nacho is able to replace his fake heart medication pills for the real ones before the ambulance takes Hector away. Gus witnesses this exchange but says nothing … for now. Jimmy, in a final attempt to rehabilitate Irene with her friends, blows his sweet Sandpiper deal and his status with the senior citizen crowd. And Mike Ehrmantraut? He’s still working for Madrigal.
Oh, and in the future Cinnabon Jimmy (who goes by Gene) passes out while at work in his Omaha Mall Cinnabon.

As I sit here to reflect on last week’s episode before diving into this week’s episode, I turned to Dagny’s version of Landslide and am immediately filled with a warm fuzzy feeling. I want to touch on the use of background music in each episode bringing us new artists and remakes of classics. Each week I am reminded of all the reasons I became a fan last Summer; most importantly, the show is super relatable.
Before reading any further, make sure you are caught up on last week’s action with my deep dive recap & review here. All done? Good. Let’s dive into tonight’s episode which leads us to our first ever run in with the infamous Babs Brady. As always spoilers ahead.
One of my favorite times of the year is when Better Call Saul returns to TV and that day has arrived!! The season premiere of Better Call Saul is our Top Pick to Watch Tonight but that’s not all!
Right after BCS is the series premiere of a new AMC series, Lodge 49, which seems bizarre but I am going to give it a go in any case. Also on tonight, new So You Think You Can Dance (the 2 hour Live shows begin!), American Ninja Warrior and Blood Money. Mondays continue to be a hot night of television!
