Evil “7 Swans a Singin'” (Episode 110)
December 12, 2019
Last week on EVIL, David was being sued by Caroline Hopkins, the Halloween episode exorcism lady, who claim the church botched the whole thing. David’s life became more complicated when Renée Harris showed up to represent him. Renée is the sister of Julia, David’s dead fiancee. When the episode ended, Renée was waiting for David in his apartment, refusing to leave until he touched her. At the Bouchard House, a mysterious tabby cat appeared and interrupted Andy and Kristen’s reunion. That cat is demonic fo’ sho’. And Leland brought Sebastian to the edge of killing David and his prayer group only to have Sebastian accidentally shoot his own brains out. Back to the drawing board, Leland.

Evil “Exorcism Part 2” (Episode 109)
December 5, 2019
Last week on EVIL, Andy Bouchard, absentee mountain climbing husband and father, returned home to no wife, a hostile mother-in-law and crazy daughters. Meanwhile, Kristen and David investigated David’s father and his free wheeling commune life in Upstate NY, and whether Leon Acosta is part of “The 60.” Spiked sangria leads to Kristen and David almost getting it on as well as some intense hallucinations. Catch up on all of last week’s action with our recap Here.

Last week on EVIL, the God Squad battled an exorcism which contained a murderous twist. Also, the Vatican dispatched a team to investigate Grace the Prophet’s prophecies and in doing so, revealed more of the “Poveglia Codex” to our merry band of faithful skeptics. This Codex investigation led to the God Squad deciphering a Hierarchy of Demons (in which Leland seems to figure). Speaking of, Leland took Sebastian the IT Fraudster (from “3 Stars”) under his evil wing and David learned that his father, a painter, may be caught up in Leland’s demon sigil craze. Catch up on last week’s action with our deep dive recap and review here.

EVIL “Vatican III” (Episode 107)
November 14, 2019
Last week on EVIL, the God Squad investigated a prophet, Grace Ling, from Flushing, Queens (my hometown!). The Church is worried about Grace because some of her prophecies are identical to prophecies made over 500 years ago and recorded in the super secret, “Poveglia Codex.” Few people know about the Codex and only Popes have ever seen the thing. Grace is taken into custody on an ICE raid before she is able to help the God Squad fill in missing info in the Codex. Meanwhile, Leland is revealed to be Grandma Sheryl’s new boyfriend and Kristen cuts a bitch to get him to leave her house. But, not before he brings the girls red devil diaries. The episode ends with Grandma Sheryl sleeping with Leland and the bed erupting into flames. But, like, metaphorical flames. I think Leland has passed some of his demon seed into Grandma Sheryl! Yikes!
Now,on to an all new episode of EVIL … BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!
I must confess, I have not regained full composure after last week’s EVIL; it was gut-wrenching. In short, last week, the God Squad investigated a potentially possessed or psychopathic 9-year old boy. After he tried to drown his baby sister in the family pool, the God Squad came to the conclusion that an exorcism was needed to address a possible demon in him. Unfortunately, when the God Squad showed up to perform the rite, the boy had gone missing. The grieving mother gave the God Squad (and us) enough hints to conclude the parents killed the boy in order to protect their other children. Meanwhile, Kristen’s Mom gave her granddaughters augmented reality goggles, which seemed fine until they activated an MA-rated game and the web-enabled component that brought in a gamer named Rose390, who dialed up the intensity and maybe is an agent of the Devil?
It’s Halloween in the show and almost Halloween in real life. With that in mind, are you ready for a bona fide exorcism where science and religion collide, spectacularly? Great! Let’s get into tonight’s all new episode of EVIL … BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!
Last week on EVIL, the God Squad investigated a case of possible diabolical obsession (check out our recap for all of the forms of possession). The subject was a renowned Broadway producer and it turned out, he was being pranked. Also, he was a massive douchebag. But, in the end, maybe he wasn’t being pranked and he killed himself. The same force that maybe was really haunting the dick producer also tapped into Ben’s family’s life and exposed some hidden secrets which may have tremendous consequences. David worked on deciphering his trippy vision and Kristen finally beat Leland at his own game. Catch up on the technology induced scare with our deep dive recap and review here.

NCIS “Into the Light” (Episode 1702)
October 1, 2019
Tonight’s episode of NCIS completes the season premiere arc. NCIS has always loved its two-parters. Last week, we came “Out of the Darkness” and now we are coming “Into the Light.” More specifically, Ziva came out of the darkness and into the light. Speaking of our favorite Israeli, the Ziva love letter, begun last week, continues with tonight’s episode. Catch up on the action from last week with our recap, which you can find here.
All caught up? Great! Now, let’s dive into tonight’s episode of NCIS … BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!
In last week’s EVIL, the team investigated a possible miracle where an 18 year old dropped dead of cardiac arrest during a soccer practice only to regain consciousness almost three hours later during her autopsy. In the battle of science or divine intervention, science one out and the answer turned on a case of “implicit racism” in the hospital’s procedures. on the personal side of life, Kristen had more visits from George, her mind demon, as did her youngest daughter. Kristen saw that he was the main baddie from a TV show she had watched with her daughters. Simple explanation for everything, right? But … we never did get a solid explanation on what the appearance of the deceased patient in the video was. Also, David trips hard on hallucinogenics in order to see God … so that’s probably not going to be a problem, right? Catch up on our full recap here.
Ready to dive into the different forms of possession? Great, then read on for our deep dive recap and review of EVIL … BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!
Last week’s pilot episode of EVIL introduced us to Kristen Bouchard, a forensic psychologist and consultant to the Queens County District Attorney’s Office. She leaves that job to join a team within the Catholic Church that is tasked with determining with whether people have experienced religious-based phenomena (e.g., possessions; miracles) or if they’re just faking it. Last week saw the Faith v. Science Team investigate whether a serial killer was possessed by demons or just a psychopath (there is a thin line between the two states). Kristen’s subconscious takes some work home in the form of a demon named George that visits her nightly in her dreams (nightmares?) expressing her deepest darkest fears including her attraction to David. On the other side of #TeamGod is Dr. Leland Townsend, another forensic psychologist, devoted to spreading evil.

Tonight saw the series premiere of CBS’s new thriller (horror?) drama, EVIL! Quick synopsis: Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) is a forensic psychologist tapped to work for the Catholic Church to determine whether a serial killer is possessed by a demon or just your average psychopath. She works with priest-in-training, David Acosta (Mike Colter), and Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi), a technical adviser who believes in his paycheck above all else. Is demonic possession real or is it just show. Is a matter of science or faith?
