What To Watch – Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Goddamn you Matt Lauer for taking the thunder away from the season premiere of Vikings tonight. Now I need to put your goofy face on the cover of my post instead of Lagertha in her Royal Viking Finery! You suck, Lauer! Also, Mr. Robot is on and the tree gets lit in Rockefeller Center, sans a certain alleged sexual predator.

NBC

8pm Hour:

1st Choice: Vikings.  Its all Vikings all night tonight! If you haven’t seen this show before, you need to binge it and catch up ASAP. Its amazing.  This first hour is a Lagertha retrospective/catch up. Official logline, “[a] recap of Lagertha’s story from the previous four seasons, including [her] status as a formidable warrior and fearless leader.” History

2nd Choice: Christmas in Rockefeller Center. An annual tradition where we see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree get lit up. This year will be extra interesting given Matt Laurer’s firing this morning for an alleged sexual assault last year in Brazil during the Summer Olympics. Someone is on the Naughty List! “Brett Eldredge, Jennifer Nettles, Leslie Odom Jr., Pentatonix, Gwen Stefani, and the Tenors are among the performers at the 85th annual tree-lighting gala in Manhattan. Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker host.” NBC

3rdd Choice: Riverdale. Ugh, I am so behind on this show but this bananas season is keeping on keeping on. Another on the list to binge once everything goes on Winter break. “Jughead and Archie’s friendship is tested after an unexpected call. Meanwhile, Betty and Veronica investigates someone who might be the Black Hood killer. Elsewhere, Josie’s secret admirer takes things one step too far” The CW

9pm Hour:

History Channel

1st Choice:  Vikings.  The 2 hour season 5 premiere; “tensions mount between the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok as the Vikings continue to threaten the very heart of England. As the army moves to take York, with King Aethelwulf and his family still in hiding, Heahmund, the warrior bishop, must rally the Saxons to defend the realm.” History

2nd Choice:  Dynasty. See Riverdale above about needing to catch up. Tonight’s Dynasty is an oddly timed Thanksgiving episode, 1 week too late. “Blake’s hopes for a perfect Thanksgiving are ruined when he clashes with both Fallon and Steven. Meanwhile Cristal’s challenging houseguest reminds everyone to be grateful for the ties that bind” The CW

3rd Choice:  Law & Order: SVU. “Benson must disclose the secrets of her past to help a rape victim recall the details of one terrible, traumatic night.” NBC

10pm Hour:

1st Choice: Vikings. The season 5 premiere continues on History!

2nd Choice: Mr. Robot.   Sorry Mr. Robot, the Vikings season premiere trumps you tonight.  Tonight, “elliot tries to get ghosted. FWIW it’s the day of all days. ” USA

3rd Choice:  Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo.   “Bruno Mars performs at the Apollo Theater in New York City with his band the Hooligans, and takes to the streets, visiting, singing and entertaining locals.” Sure. Why Not.  CBS
