It’s been 18 years since the horrific events of September 11, 2001 and I can remember every moment of that day as if it just happened. It’s important to remember 9/11 because collective complacency, our need to avoid bad memories, breeds a culture where we leave ourselves exposed to something worse in the future. Do not let the deaths of 2,974 mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters be in vain. Sit and reflect today. Cry today. Rage today. Tell stories today. Let the memories wash over you today. Tell the people you love that you love them today. I hate today.
As has become the norm for all important dates of American history that involve blood and death, network TV ignores all mentions of September 11 tonight. But, you have some good options on HBO, CMT, and History channel.
