What To Watch Tonight? It Is  Time for the 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards People!! The biggest night in television has finally arrived. As some kind of cosmic reaffirmation of the Golden Age we’re currently living through, this year’s categories are jam packed with excellent nominees – it’s a  deep bench of talent out there, folks!

But, Awards Shows aren’t for everyone, so in our final Sunday of Summer TV, Our Top Pick To Watch Tonight (other than the Emmys) is an all new Succession. Also,  a new The Righteous Gemstones, Power, and the penultimate episode of Preacher.  Check out the full list of picks for the night below.  What are you watching?

Television Academy

8pm Hour:

1st Choice: Power.  “Tasha revisits old habits when she begins to recruit soldiers for her new empire. Tariq pulls a ruse on Vincent. Proctor warns Tommy about a snitch. Ghost plans to take care of the snitch on his own terms.” Starz

2nd Choice: Country Music. “The Sons and Daughters of America (1964-1968). How country music reflects a changing America, with Loretta Lynn speaking to women everywhere, Merle Haggard becoming “The Poet of the Common Man” and audiences looking beyond race to embrace Charley Pride.” PBS

3rd Choice: Russian Yeti: The Killer Lives. “Fictional documentary on the deaths of students in the Russian mountains, attributed to the yeti.” Science

9pm Hour:

1st Choice: Succession. “When Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) are sent to the UK to negotiate with their mother, Caroline (Harriet Walter), an uninvited Shiv (Sarah Snook) shows up to get answers from her father, who has been dodging her. Rhea’s (Holly Hunter) continued presence raises eyebrows amongst the Roy kids, as Logan (Brian Cox) seeks her counsel. Later, Kendall is forced to confront what happened last time he was in the UK. Back in New York, Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) encounters unexpected pressure during an internal investigation and Greg (Nicholas Braun) goes to great lengths to protect himself.” HBO

1st Choice:  The Righteous Gemstones. “Jealous of Kelvin’s (Adam DeVine) rising star, Judy (Edi Patterson) seeks her moment in the spotlight under Baby Billy’s (Walton Goggins) tutelage. Jesse (Danny McBride) procures a key piece of evidence he hopes will lead to the blackmailers.” HBO

2nd Choice:  Preacher. “The Messiah has finally arrived in Masada; The team try everything to stop the end of the world.” AMC

3rd Choice:  Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall. “A young woman vanishes from a New Mexico convenience store. Two detectives discover tracks in the dirt that may lead them to answers. After a second woman disappears, it’s a race against time to stop a potential serial killer.” ID
