What To Watch – Thursday, January 4, 2018

Other than the series premiere of the newest singing show, The Four: Battle for Stardom, there isn’t much doing on the tube tonight. So, I guess I’ll check it out.  I like Fergie and DJ Khaled enough to warrant at least a looksie.  Otherwise, check out the Costner classic, The Untouchables, stroll down Waco memory lane or watch a new S.W.A.T.

1st Choice:  The Four: Battle For Stardom.  Series Premiere.  The newest singing competition to hit the airwaves (and positioned to premiere before ABC’s reboot of American Idol bows in a few weeks).  Hosted by Fergie and featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled, singer Meghan Trainor and record label executive Charlie Walk, as the judges, the concept is “four reigning champs competing against newcomers each week. If they’re outperformed, they go home and the challenger takes their place.”  Fox

2nd Choice:   The Untouchables.  The 1987 Kevin Costner/Sean Connery classic is on BBC tonight.   The Untouchables tells the story of how federal agent Elliot Ness (Costner) doggedly pursued the famous Chicago gangster, Al Capone (Robert DeNiro).  Fantastic flick!  BBC

3rd Choice: Comedies. You have choices as Thursday night is comedy night on CBS and NBC. I’d fill my 8pm hour with The Big Bang Theory on CBS at 8 and then switch over to the very funny The Good Place at 8:30pm on NBC.

9pm Hour:

1st Choice:  The Four: Battle for Stardom.  Continues on Fox.

2nd Choice: The Untouchables.  Continues on the BBC

3rd Choice:  Truth and Lies: Waco.  If you’re old enough to remember Waco, then this may be of interest to you … “An examination of the 1993 ATF raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, that resulted in the deaths of four ATF agents and six Branch Davidian members.” ABC

10pm Hour:

1st Choice:  The Untouchables.  Continues on the BBC

2nd Choice:    Truth and Lies: Waco.  Continues on ABC.

3rd Choice:  S.W.A.T.  Not much going on at 10pom tonight so why not give S.W.A.T. another chance?  “When a misconduct complaint filed against Hondo gets him taken off active duty, Deacon steps up to lead the team in finding a robbery crew that is hitting marijuana dispensaries. Also, when Tan notices a similarity between the current robberies and a case from his time with Hollywood LAPD, he asks for help from an informant with whom he has a complicated history.” CBS
