What To Watch – Tuesday, December 26, 2017

So, Christmas is done so you’re basically out of the schmaltzy Holiday Specials phase but most of your shows are still on Winter Hiatus, What to do?  Well, this week will surely be filled with 2017 Retrospectives but tonight, we’re recommending some history learning on PBS, a shitty Charlie Brown special on ABC and crazy, Christmas themed murder mystery shows on ID.  Fun times!!  Oh, and the Kennedy Center Honors!

8pm Hour:

1st Choice:   The Sultan and the Saint.  “How St. Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt risked it all to end the Crusades.”  PBS

2nd  Choice:   Happy New Year, Charlie Brown. Certainly not a classic in the Charlie Brown Pantheon of Specials but hey, maybe watching a documentary about the end of the Crusades isn’t your thing? “From 1986: Charlie Brown rings in the new year at a party with Tolstoy’s “War and Peace” and ends up missing the evening’s surprise. Also: 1980’s “She’s a Good Skate, Charlie Brown,” which features Snoopy helping Peppermint Patty train for her first ice-skating competition.” ABC

3rd Choice:   The Nightmare After Christmas.  “Charismatic businessman George Jodoin is found dead in the little town of Auburn, N.H. Suspicion looms amongst of small group of friends as detectives try to get to the bottom of the case.” ID

9pm Hour:

1st Choice:   Kennedy Center Honors.   “The 40th annual celebration in Washington, D.C., honors dancer Carmen de Lavallade, singer Gloria Estefan, hip hop artist and actor LL Cool J, producer Norman Lear and musician Lionel Richie.”  CBS

2nd Choice:    Secrets of the Dead.  Spanish Florida … “Archaeologists, scientists and historians reveal the little-known history of America’s Spanish colonists who settled in Florida in 1565, long before Jamestown or Plymouth.”  PBS

3rd Choice:   Grave Secrets. “Everyone in town adores Sara Dixon, and police are baffled when they discover her shot dead in her sleep. Their only clue: Christmas tinsel that the killer tracked in. But rumors of a secret family feud will soon reveal a story of monstrous betrayal.”  ID

10pm Hour:

1st Choice:   Kennedy Center Honors.  Continues on CBS.

2nd Choice:  Secrets of the Dead. Continues on PBS.

3rd Choice:   Hunting Hitler.  Who doesn’t want to hunt Hitler? Amiright?!?  “Series exploring the possibility that Adolf Hitler escaped death in the Nazi bunker at the end of World War II.”  History
