What To Watch – Friday, January 5, 2018

TGIF, not just because the weekend is starting but because MacGyver is back and all new tonight!! And, we get to learn how Mac and Jack met!  Also on the docket, a new game show from Ricky Gervais (and hosted by Fred Savage) premieres on ABC.  Ricky and Fred are reason enough for me to watch!

1st Choice: MacGyver.  The bromance that started it all .. when MacGyver Met Jack.  “When Mac and Jack are trapped inside Mac’s house, which his nemesis, the Ghost, has rigged with explosives, Mac uses a karaoke mic and an audio transformer to let the team know that this bomb is a distraction for a bigger one. Also, through flashbacks, Mac and Jack’s contentious first meeting unfolds.” CBS

2nd Choice:  Child Support.  A new game show which sounds a lot like Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader but with no Jeff Foxworthy … “In the series premiere, young kids help adults answer trivia questions for a chance to win a large cash prize.” The show is from the mind of Ricky Gervais (who also interacts with the kids) and is hosted by Fred Savage.  Reason enough to watch, right there!  ABC

3rd Choice: Figure Skating: U.S. Championships.  Its an Olympics year which means that NBC will begin throwing Winter Olympic events at us well before the worldwide event even begins.  Hence, tonight’s Figure Skating Championships. Get to know the names now before they appear in South Korea next month!!  NBC

9pm Hour:

(ABC/Eric McCandless)

2nd Choice:  Figure Skating: U.S. Championships. Continues on NBC.

3rd Choice:  John Wick. See the 2014 Keanu Reeves sleeper hit that began the franchise.  Fun fact, I saw John Wick for the first time on basic cable and fell in love with it instantly.  You can have the same experience! Spike

10pm Hour:

1st Choice:   Figure Skating: U.S. Championships. Continues on ABC.

2nd Choice:    John Wick. Continues on Spike.

3rd Choice.      Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs.  “The entertainer’s acclaimed cabaret show.”  I mean its Alan Cumming, how bad can it be?  PBS
