Emet’s idea of relaxation is lounging, snacking, and spending time on a computer because every other moment of the day someone needs her.  At the office, her staff needs her to approve designs, at home the kids need her help and her husband needs to talk to her.  On this day, her neighbors needs her to watch their house while they are on vacation and Emet agrees.  Her parents also come over to stay with them for a while, since a pipe broke at their place.

The next day, Emet is talking to her (all male) co-workers about having her parents stay at her place.  They tell her that women aren’t entitled enough and teach her about “manspreading.”  She feels that she can meet everyone’s needs without having to be manly.  When she gets home, her mother has her kitchen cabinets emptied [Ed. Note: Emet’s , “What the fuck?!?” is the best use of Fuck on TV this season.]  and stuff spread out all over the counter, the kids want dinner, and her father was in the neighbor’s yard picking fruit.  The neighbors!  She told her family that she would get take out and then she went to her neighbor’s house to bring in their packages.

“You gotta take what you want.”

When she opens the door to her neighbor’s house, it is clean and quiet.  Emet is enjoying the moment and has found her ‘me’ time.  She decides to take a nice long bath.

At work the following day, she arrives with a smile and her co-workers know something is up.  When she tells them about the house, they give her tips on how not to get caught.  Her first tip:  keep her excuse simple.  That night, she calls David to tell him she is working late.  Meanwhile, she is at the house, enjoying Alexa and the luxurious lotions at the house.

“You’re cheating with a house.”

Her co-workers warn her not to be careless and advise her to turn off location tracking on her phone.  Almost getting away with another night at the house alone, Emet orders take-out but David delivers it to her when he got an email confirmation.  Busted.  Emet lets him in on the ‘alone’ time, while her parents watch the kids.  While they are talking, Emet tells him that taking a break for herself isn’t as easy as it is for him to take a break.  He promises to be there for her when she wants ‘me’ time.

“Sometimes I need a break even from you.”

When she arrives at work the next day, her co-workers have designed a VR experience for her so that she can have her 20 minutes of alone time anywhere.  End Credits.

Thoughts.

One of the best things about this show is how relatable it is.  And it’s not just for parents.  Everyone needs ‘me’ time, where they can just relax and forget about all of life’s stresses.  Comparing the alone time to cheating and the innuendos that followed, were entertaining and the writers have really done well so far.  Some of the situations are exaggerated, but the dialog flows and doesn’t seem forced.

Episode Score:  I give this episode a 4 out of 5 Casey’s.
